Air Bath Information

Is this Jacuzzi?

Jacuzzi is simply a brand name for a whirlpool bath (a type of hydro-massage bath). We DO NOT sell Jacuzzis. Instead, we sell the high quality Novellini baths and also Wizard systems.

What are Airbaths?

Airbath is a brand name for the air spa system.

What is the difference between a whirlpool and an air spa bath?

whirlpool (h)wûrlpool, n.
Takes water from the bath, circulates it around the outside and then jets it back in at various points. Similar to the system found in hot tubs in health clubs. Usually cheaper than an air spa system. Sometimes preferred for the fact that it allows massage to a specific part of the body which can be better for injuries etc. Some people consider these baths to be more fun.

air spa ar spä, n.
Blows air into the bath from the bottom. In the case of Airbath, this is through 150 tiny holes. Generally more expensive than whirlpools, but considered to be far superior. Easy cleaning (bath includes a drying process for after the bath has been emptied). The air system is considered to be better for a more therapeutic, de-stressing bathing period, hence the use of Airbaths in many hospitals. This system is also better for families with children, since it can't be damaged by being run without water. The pump can be placed away from the bath to allow a quiter and hence even more relaxing bath. In the case of Airbath, the bath itself is of such good quality, they are even sold without the air system, despite the fact that this is what made Airbath!

Which is considered to be better?

The advantages of each are outlined above, and each has its merits depending on the requirements of the consumer. Each has different manufacturers with corresponding different qualities. Novellini is an excellent quality whirlpool and Airbath is certainly the best quality air spa system, being the inventors of the system.

Is it true that you can fit either a whirlpool or air spa system to any of your baths from only £299 + VAT?

Yes. This is the same system that many "competitors" actually sell for the recommended retail price of £440! In fact, some of the DIY sheds sell this for about £550 so this is genuinely an incredible bargain! Also, this gives you a massive range of baths to choose from - double ended straight baths, corner baths, round baths etc.

Which type of bath is more powerful?

This depends on the pump used. Airbaths usually come with quite a powerful pump, but some people comment that they dont seem as powerful as a whirlpool. One reason for this is that the air bubbles start out very small at the bottom of the bath. As they rise, the decreasing water pressure causes the bubbles to expand to cause e greater effect at the surface. This means that a shallower bath will seem to be less vigorous. Also, with a whirlpool, there are only a small number of jets causing a strong effect right at the jets. With Airbaths, the quantity of smaller bubbles causes a more even distribution of slightly gentler movement.

I have heard that you can buy a mattress with a pump attached that can be placed in the bottom of any bath to provide the same effect. Is this a cheaper option?

It may save the cost of a new bath, but if you look at the power of the pump you will see why these things give a pathetic bath compared to a built in hydro-massage.

How can Airbaths be used for a steam bath?

You can put a small amount of hot water and bubble bath mixture in the bottom of an Airbath. They can then be turned on to produce a bath full of bubbles full of steam for a relaxing steam bath. Also fun for the children!
